I am buy a portable hard drive with a memory capacity of about 300 to 500 GB and want it to be rather slim.

I have no clue about hard drives and don't know what I need to look for or what some good brands are.

you will find many hard drive brands available. All are slim and sleek unless you go for 1 TB of space and all. But generally 500 GB Hard drives are slim in a case. You can check out the prices of the Hard drives and the various brands of hard drives with their prices on ebay.com and you can also order from there if shipping doesn't take a lot. More importantly you can see the pictures of hard drive and then from local market you can buy the particular hard drive if u wish to.

How do I use ipod hard drive without the ipod?

My ipods battery is completely dead, and before it was completely dead i was using it as a portable hard drive because i snapped the audio cord and i didnt want to throw it out :P so i was wondering if there was a way to somehow still use the hard drive but not using the ipod to access it because i plug it in and it doesnt even get the apple logo up before it goes and dies again

How do I get a usb portable hard drive to work?

I bought a verbatim usb Portable Hard Drive to store information on from my old pc with windows XP to my new pc with windows 7. I can not get the usb hard drive to show up on either pc. It shows a blue light on but otherwise it won't do anything.

a few possibilities:

A) it only has a usb cord, and it needs more power. Try a usb port on the back of the computer.

C) it's dead.

I got a freeagent goflex portable hard drive. I need it to work on both a mac and windows computer. It works on my windows computer but I need it to work on a mac computer at school so I need to format it. I was wondering can I format it at home on my windows 7 without having to do it at school?

Format it as MS-DOS (FAT) and it will work on both. Slow, but it will work.

I use this all of the time to copy back and forth between Mac and Windows machines.
