portable hard drives compatible with ps3 image
StellarSta
I have a Western Digital 500 GB portable external hard drive that's USB 2.0/3.0 compatible. I want to use part of it for my PS3. It won't read it though, it doesn't even show up on the PS3. I've already formatted part of it into FAT32, but it's just not working. The light on my hard drive doesn't even come on when I plug it up to the PS3. I can hear it working, but the light doesn't turn on. Why can't I get it to show up on my PS3?
Answer
I believe you need to format the whole drive to FAT32.

Whats the difference between a fat ps3 and a slim one?
Q. It my birthday July 18, so I wanna see which one is better
Answer
not that much actually but here goes:
if you want to take your ps3 anywhere for example on holiday then the slimmer is better/more portable (even though its not that portable)
if you want 4 usb ports instead of 2 and a backwards compatible ps3 then the only ps3s to do that are the rare 60 and 80gb fats (which are no longer sold in shops - so ebay)
i personally prefer the shiny gloss on the ps3 fat than the matt finish on the ps3 slim, but its a personal preference.
some say fans on the ps3 slim are louder, others say quieter, so i really don't know. you tube it to find out the real evidence. (altho there's just been a question on the ps section asking why the ps3 slim fan is noisier)
ps3 slims have more memory but its really easy to change the hard drive on the fat ps3s (some people sell the ps3 fats with bigger hard drive already done on ebay)
and of course, the slims are more expensive
you decide if the price difference is worth it...
