Portable External Hard Drive Question?

Can i save photoshop in a portable drive? and be abe to use it in my labtop from the portable external drive?
also can i download games like flyff(online game) to the protable drive and be able to use it in my labtop?
Cause i have a labtop that has only has 30 gb in total of memory... its a very old labtop and i dont have enuogh money to buy a new one, only have enough for a new portable drive and my bro wants to use the drive also to plug it to our main comp to play flyff and use photoshop,

You can install programs onto an external hard drive. But you will only be able to run them from the external hard drive on the same computer you installed them with.

so i have a 1tb portable hard drive. and i have the project64 emulator. would it be possible to put the emulator on the portable hard drive and the games on there and then be able to go onto any computer,plug in my hard drive,and start playing games? (Mario,zelda,all that fun stuff ;D)
how would i do that? just transfer all that fun stuff over to the portable hard drive or what?
if you actually know,can you list the steps i would have to do,please!

i have never done it but it should be pretty basic , as long as your pc is capable of running the emulator
I have used an extarnal hdd to copy software to my pc before so it should be the same principle no matter what the software is
you would copy the software files to the pc and install it by running the .exe file and any others needed to run it
once installed the emulator runs like any software , and you could either play the games form the external hd same as playing a movie from it , or sopy to the ps and play them

if the external HDD is formatted in ntsfand it can run software from it , so could run most software from the external hdd the same as from the pc , many external hard drives cannot run software but the ones that have internal one touch backup or similar that run backups from the external with software installed on it can
you would simply install the emulator on the external hdd , run it as usual and play games from it or the pc

I do not condone piracy f games by any means but if you are goung to do it that is up to you

you will need to find any installation instructions for the software online somewhare , google works for that

The Western Digital My Passport Essential 320GB USB 2.0 Portable Hard Drive (Midnight Black) is the largest capacity in the portable essentials line-up. This comes in a variety of colors including Pink, Real Red, Artic White and Intense Blue. They say that this is the update to the regular Western Digital 320 GB Passport Hard Drive and I own both of them. In fact I also own many other portable hard drives in the Western Digital passport lineup and so far I couldn't be happier. All of these are great for mobile backups of data, though slower to copy large backups than their A/C powered MyBook big-brothers.

Some will be considering the Western Digital My Passport Essential 250GB and the Western Digital My Passport Essential 160 GB sizes of these drives. I started with the 160 GB and have owned multiple versions in all sizes, and capacity aside these drives are basically the same. If you are on the fence between a smaller or larger size, the decision will come down to what you really need most. If you need a drive for complete backups, don't box yourself in purchasing a 160 GB model when your hard drive is 120 GB. Give yourself some room and go with the 320 if you can.

For those with backup needs of 80 GB or smaller, look into the other capacities. Periodic specials are being run on some of the smaller sizes, making them very attractive. Plus a 500 GB model should be on the way soon. So if you need the largest size, then by all means get the 320 GB version. But if you can make do with the smaller size, then the value pricing may entice you. Weigh your options but whatever size you pick now make sure it's enough to meet your needs right now and for at least the next 6 months. In fact, some people who are extremely picky like me are going to want to buy at least 2 drives so that they can have 2 copies of their backups, just in case.

The Looks

The drive has a nice shiny exterior. The case can scratch in transit and the surface also attracts fingerprints and dust. But the look is still nice and you can easily purchase a case or holder for the drive if it bothers you. Most versions don't ship with the case included, but you can pick up the CaseLogic Small External Hard Drive Case (Black) for $10 or $15.

There is nothing new with using a portable harddisk, just use it like USB Flash Drive. Plug it in and a harddrive will appear in mycomputer, Copy and paste as you do normally.

I've been reading multiple reviews for various brands such as iomega western digital and seagate and for each brand people are complaining about them breaking or dieing and as a result I am super confused. So what IS the most reliable brand? More specifically whats the most reliable portable external hard drive that has at least 500gb of space?

The people who complain online are the very few that get defective drives, so don't mind anything you read.. Unless it's from a trusted source.

I have 2 computers, and I have EVE Online installed on one of them. I don't want to download the client on the other comp because it takes forever.

Providing both systems have the same OS, i believe you can copy over the whole game directory without any problems.

I just received a Samsung Netbook as a gift and need to know how to get online. I'm new at this and I'm not looking to spend a mint on gadgets, so something cost effective and easy would appreciated!!

If you have tips on what portable hard drives are good and inexpensive, add that also. I want to transfer some games from my desktop to my Netbook.

Your netbook comes equipped with a wireless network card. This allows it to connect to wireless internet signals that are sent out by wireless routers. These routers exist in many public places (such as coffee shops and librarys, and are advertised as "wifi" or "wifi hotspots"). You want to click on the wireless network option (in the bottom right of your screen, near the clock) and find a network name listed, then click on it to connect to the internet.
You can also buy a wireless router and plug it into your home internet connection, which allows you to connect to the internet wirelessly anywhere inside your house.

If any of this is confusing, take your netbook to a Best Buy or somewhere similar. They should be very able to help you figure out how to use the internet, as well as sell you a wireless router.

Oh, and if you want to transfer games from your desktop to netbook, I recommend that you get a USB flash drive rather than a portable hard drive. Flash drives are a lot cheaper and a lot smaller.
