Portable media player to play from hard drive?

I have an external hard drive with lots of videos in mp4 and avi format
is there a media player that I can attach a portable 500gb hard drive to and play the videos through easily. the player doesn't need to have an internal hard drive or a dvd player, simply just a screen to play the videos.

Portable Media/Video Player with Hard Drive for Car?

My minivan has a built in DVD player with TV screen and also has video inputs including composite video as well as HDMI.

I am trying to find a portal video player with a built-in hard drive that plays AVI or DIVx movies.
This way I can load up all my kids movies on the hard drive without having to lug around dozens of DVD's.

Can anyone recommend such a player? I noticed there are a few portal media players for the home but none have power adapter for the car.

I am doing the same the device is an ipod video i have 60 hours of video and 300 songs
and this is the cable i use to make it work in a town and country
