Lost USB Cable for External Hard Drive?

orange.nes

I've lost a USB cable for a WD My Passport Essential SE to connect up to the computer. It's not the same USB 2.0 cable as the WD Elements for some reason. Both has the USB end, obviously, but the other end for the My Passport is a little rounded, and the Elements one is the more common one I've seen on phone chargers.

Here's the pictures if you don't get my horrible explanations:
Elements: http://www.wdc.com/global/images/products/img2/300/wdfElements_BAAR.jpg
My Passport Essential: http://www.wdc.com/global/images/products/img2/300/wdfMP_SEEssential.jpg

Does anyone know if that cable is readily available at Dicksmith of JB-HIFI (Australia) and at what price range?

Would appreciate any help. I'm such a noob at cables...

Answer
My Seagate Portable has the same plug but 2 usb plugs. One for power and one for data. Is yours the same? Tried to google it to see a picture of the cable but could not find one. Check out the links below. I think they might help. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

how much is a portable hardrive?
at least 100gb and im in Australia if that makes any difference. Probaly be used for backing up video files.
NOTE* the video files are 20-100mb only.

I can recommend the WD drives. Although the site says that the WD Elements is a portable drive, it is better suited to sitting on a desktop (The power connector is a bit flimsy IMHO to be continually connected and disconnected). The WD Passports though, although a bit more expensive, are well worth it to be portable.

100GB may be a bit too small, I have a 320GB external, and it is full with mostly video. For average compressed video, take 1GB to be 1Hrs worth of video. Uncompressed would be more.

Answer
Are you planning to do so by yourself late at night? in a dark area with no public around? while listening to loud music on an Ipod? with your hood up so you cant see people approaching you from behind? and excess cash spilling out of your wallet?

If so, better keep it at home.

Otherwise, don't pay attention to hysterical reports about crime in Melbourne.

On September 4, US authorities formally requested French assistance. France offered disaster relief stocks prepositioned in Martinique (600 tents, around 1000 beds, 60 electrogenic groups, 3 pumps, 3 water purification stations, 1000 folding jerricanes and other material). A 35-person team of the Sécurité civile (Civil defence) from Guadeloupe and Martinique were made ready, and a 60-man "catastrophe intervention" aeromobile detachment were prepared to be ferried from mainland in a short time. The Ministry of Defence offered 2 planes already in the zone and 6 more from mainland France, and two ships of the French Navy (probably the BATRAL Francis Garnier or Champlain, and the frigate Ventôse) and a 20-person team of emergency medical specialists. Another German Air Force cargo plane carrying several thousand military rations (MRE) was denied entry into US airspace since, according to US authorities, they were not certified BSE-free. My portable hard drive was lost about 4 days ago, and it had about 4 weeks of non-backed-up data on it, someone who travels on my school bus after I get off must have stolen it. What can I do to try to get it back? I live in Australia, so it it much more likely to get returned that in America. So what can I do?
