how much is a portable hardrive?
at least 100gb and im in Australia if that makes any difference. Probaly be used for backing up video files.
NOTE* the video files are 20-100mb only.

I can recommend the WD drives. Although the site says that the WD Elements is a portable drive, it is better suited to sitting on a desktop (The power connector is a bit flimsy IMHO to be continually connected and disconnected). The WD Passports though, although a bit more expensive, are well worth it to be portable.

100GB may be a bit too small, I have a 320GB external, and it is full with mostly video. For average compressed video, take 1GB to be 1Hrs worth of video. Uncompressed would be more.

Are you planning to do so by yourself late at night? in a dark area with no public around? while listening to loud music on an Ipod? with your hood up so you cant see people approaching you from behind? and excess cash spilling out of your wallet?

If so, better keep it at home.

Otherwise, don't pay attention to hysterical reports about crime in Melbourne.
