can the ipad take over laptop?

Cam

What's the diference

Answer
The laptop can play better games, from low to demanding. Has bigger screen size, bigger hard drive. Most laptop have a better CPU, has more RAM/Memory. Has a disk drive.

Ipad: Light, small hard drive, not for anyone, can not play demanding games or flash games. Small size, very portable, no disk drive.

No the ipad never take over the laptop. Because not everybody likes the ipad. The laptop have many advantages over the ipad.

Do I need an external drive for one of the new iMacs or Apples?

We are looking at an iMac/Apple because the touch screen possibility for our special needs child may be very useful in her sensory skill development. With the iMac, if we bring in programs, as we did on the PC, we would want to download them onto an external drive and free up the computer's drive. Therefore, how useful is an external/portable hard drive to an iMac/Apple?

Answer
Hello - I also have a child with special needs. She has severe cerebral palsy.

You are talking about the Apple iPad, correct? I have talked to some therapists at her school and they are excited about the possibilities of using the iPad for special needs people who can communicate through a touch screen. Before the iPad, such a device cost thousands of dollars to buy.

You need to contact a therapist about getting and setting up an iPad for this purpose. It will require software applications to be written for the disabled, but those will come in time, if not already.

Don't worry about the size of the applications. The iPad will be plenty big enough to hold whatever applications are created for this purpose. Your home computer will sync with the iPad through Apple's free iTunes software, and keep a backup of the data and apps on your iPad.

Can I start a new iTunes library on a new PC with what I have on my iPad?

Daniel

Because I was selling my laptop, I deleted everything from the hard drive including my iTunes library. Fortunatley I have everything on my iPad. How do I go about setting up a new library on my new PC with the songs, videos, etc that I have on my iPad?

Answer
You can try iPad to PC Transfer. It is a fast, easy-to-use, key feature:

1. Transfer music, movie, photo, ePub, pdf, audiobook, Podcast and TV Show among iPad, computer and iTunes.
2. Copy your iPad songs, videos, photos, TV Shows and podcasts from iPad to iTunes library directly.
3. Add your favorite songs and videos to your iPad without overwriting the original files. Easier than iTunes.
4. Manage iPad/iPod/iPhone as portable hard disk

Other than downloading to a hard drive, what is the most common way to download music to a portable devise? Website suggestions would be great too. Thanks.

Answer
Increasingly it is done to the device itself over a wireless network. I download all of my songs directly to my iPhone or iPad, and it syncs automatically to my other devices. Only my iPod nano need to be plugged into a computer anymore.

Can i carry My external Hard Disk in a domestic flight which contains movies in it?

Can i carry My external Hard Disk in a domestic flight which contains latest movies in it? Also has few porn stuff, Games.

Answer
Certainly. If you are taking it in as carry-on just leave it inside the carry-on bag when submitting it through the x-ray.

http://www.tsa.gov/traveler-information/prohibited-items (Check out "Can I bring my.." tool.)
Verbatim from TSA.gov:

Search Results For: external hard drive

Check or Carry-on

Please carefully pack your electronics items, making sure all cords are wrapped and any DVDs, CDs, or cassettes are removed from their devices. While you can pack expensive, fragile electronics items in checked or carry-on bags, we recommend packing them in your carry-on.

Laptop computers, full-size video game consoles, CPAP machines, full-size DVD players, and video cameras that use video cassettes must be removed from their carrying cases and submitted separately for x-ray screening. Small and portable electronic items (iPods, iPads, cell phones, etc.) do not need to be removed from their carrying cases.

For items you wish to carry-on, you should check with the airline to ensure that the item will fit in the overhead bin or underneath the seat of the airplane.

Even if an item is generally permitted, it may be subject to additional screening or not allowed through the checkpoint if it triggers an alarm during the screening process, appears to have been tampered with, or poses other security concerns. The final decision rests with TSA on whether to allow any items on the plane.
