Will downloading and running a program off of a portable hard drive affect your computer if the program has a virus/infection on it?

Eraser Portable can wipe any hard drive, optical media, files, folders, encrypted data, the Recycle Bin, and pretty much any other data you want to kill. It may not be an app you use every day, but it's a great utility to throw on your thumb drive, iPod, or other portable device for those times you do need a quick, secure delete.

If you have High-speed internet then i would recommend using the Cloud
Reasons:
* Portable Hard-drives have a high failure rate ( Hard drive error, you drop it, magnets, water/weather)
* High Startup cost ($99+ for a cheap one) and warranty is usually limited
* You have to carry several pounds around
* Need to have more power to use it
* Easy for someone to steal your drive
* You don't have the drive with you then you can't get to your data
Reasons for Cloud:
* Secure and Encrypted
* Comes with backup software that you can schedule and will back it up
* Easy access from any computer in the world to your data
* Data can't be lost/destroyed
* Low monthly/yearly fees for data, as storage gets cheaper prices will fall.
