My old computer crashed and now I have to use another itunes for my Ipod. How can I keep my old songs while syncing my Ipod with my new Itunes and new songs?

Answer
Hi,
Don' t sync your ipod yet. You need to put songs from the ipod into the computer so if it asks you whether you want to sync click no.
Use a program to sync your ipod music to your computer
A program that you can buy and is awesome.
http://www.kennettnet.co.uk/musicrescue/
A free average program

You can also transfer songs manually
Insert your iPod to a Windows PC USB or FireWire port. (PC should runs Windows XP or other Windows operating system).
If your Windows PC still doesnât have iTunes installed, skip this step. If iTunes is already installed and prompt a message on whether if youâd like to associate this iPod with this computer and deleting its content, click No. Or else you will lose your only copy of library on iTunes. Beside, ensure that âEnable Disk Useâ is selected.
Open My Computer or Windows Explorer, the iPod should be automatically detected as a portable hard drive.
Click on the iPod icon or the iPod portable hard drive letter to open the contents of the drive.
If you donât see a folder called âiPod Controlâ, itâs hidden and invisible. To unhidden it so that itâs visible, go to Tools -> Folder Options -> View, and then check (enable) the option âShow hidden files and folders.â
Open the âiPod Controlâ folder, and then the Music folder.
The Music folder contains the iPodâs music and videos, divided into folders. Copy the library to local computer hard driveâs My Music folder.
The files copied have unintelligible four-letter file names. To reveal the names of the songs and other data tags, add the files to the Windows Media Player or iTunes libraries or switch to âTilesâ view in Windows Explorer.
Rename the file if necessary.
Beside above manual ways to copy and transfer song library from iPod to computer, or import into iTunes, there are several third party program or more commonly called iPod Manager that has the iPod copying function such as SharePod (freeware) or PodPlus (shareware).

Similarly, in Macintosh running MacOS X or MacOS 9, itâs harder to show hidden files and folders. So these third party utilities with iPod copying will be useful to transfer files and music from iPod to PCâs hard disk and iTunes library.

For MacOS X, try Broken Helix and Robâs iPod Exporter. For MacOS 9, try escapePod and iProber. Other iPod Manager or iPod song transfer utility for Mac include Senuti, iPodRid, iPod.iTunes and PodWorks. For Linux, try GUIPod. PodUtil will be able to works on both Windows and Mac platform.

Help and Advice on portable Hard drives for holding movies?

Kezza

I'm looking into buying a portable hard drive for holding all my movies so I can take it with me to my friends and family house to watch it when ever I go and also free up some of the space on my laptop. I need advice on which brands and specifications to avoid and which stuff I should be looking at.....

I'm looking at this one at the moment which looks alright: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Computers/External-storage/External-hard-drives/auction-347996018.htm.

Tell me what you think and please help me out!

Much Appreciated :)

Answer
That's a WD drive, so it's the opposite of all right (Passport drives seem to have an EXTREMELY HIGH failure rate - higher than other WD drives, which have a fairly high failure rate already). Stick with Seagate drives if you want them to last. A Seagate 2TB (that's 2,000GB) internal drive is about $90 and a case to make it an external drive is $17 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817388001&cm_re=drive_enclosure-_-17-388-001-_-Product That's cheaper, a MUCH better drive and a lot more storage.
