Why did my new hard disk burn out?

Avinaba D

I was using a Seagate hard disk of 160GB and Intel motherboard. My PC was well for 3 years..There has not been a bit of problem..But suddenly the hard disk stopped working. When it was connected,my PC wont start. But when I disconnected it my PC started showing "Link failure to hard disk" as it is expected. This is the problem of my first hard disk. I bought a second hard disk 500Gb of Seagate .After using the hard disk for 3 months it just burnt out. I also sent the motherboard to Intel for testing and Intel reported there was no defects associated with it. I also bought a brand new SMPS and then connected as there was a voltage problem in the previous one. What is the problem with my PC?? I need help desperately.

It's not really focusing on the specific issue, but if you've never had an issue with using USB stuff, I'd use a portable hard drive and boot from it, if you are getting stray voltages coming from your power supply. I just wouldn't waste the time changing parts being unsure. If portable hard drives seem expensive you can go with the big IDE portable drives instead of the small portable hard drives, or you can buy a regular hard drive and buy a kit for it to make it USB on ebay for cheap, but some of them require you to connect the hard drive to a wall outlet for power and also to the USB port on your PC.

How do I transfer Xbox 360 data from one hard drive to another?

Basically I wanna buy a new hard drive for my xbox, the current one still works it's just not big enough.

Xbox.com says I can do it with a thumb drive (memory stick) - can I use a portable hard drive instead?
The old hard drive (xbox) is 20gb although it only lets me use about 16GB.

With the transfer cable option I looks like I'd have to buy a £15 cable which is quite expensive (kinda)

Also, does the new hard drive have to be official? It's just the cheapest 60GB hard drive I've found says "This is not manufactured by Microsoft "

Answer
1
get a removable hard drive and put anything it has on it in a file on a computer.

2
put everything from the original xbox onto the removable hard drive.

3
plug the removable hard drive into the new xbox and transfer everything.

4
put everything from the computer's folder back onto the hard drive and it'll be like you never did anything with it.
