Can I run applications off a portable hard dirve? Which portable hard drives should I buy? I want to run Dreamweaver, Net Objects Fusion or WebPage Maker from a portable hard drive.

You Can not run all of those programs on a portable drive. Check out http://portableapps.com/ for a great repository of Portable applications you can use.
- you can use any portable drive but you will want one that;
*has enough space [this should not be a problem as you can get USB Sticks fairly cheap nowadays]
*can interface quickly [ you will want USB 2.0 for the fastest load times however the computer must have USB 2.0]

Well im looking for a portable hard drive that can work with a macbook. I thought every hard drive works with and type of computer but i looked on the back and it said only windows vista, windows 7 or windows xp... so what can work for a mac book
