Is it good value at $NZ629? Do you think it will be fast enough - processor? My university and hall both provide computers, so I think I will need this when its really busy or maybe even take into a lecture. I am worried that it doesn't have a number pad for spreadsheets but I can just have a wireless keyboard, which is cheap. I guess I want a good battery life and for the laptop to last for at least 3 years.

The laptop would be mainly used for university stuff, I'm studying information systems and e-commerce, if that helps. I don't know what I will be doing at university or how good of a laptop I need as I start university next year. I know I will be doing a lot of multitasking (opening multiple links), word processor, spreadsheets, browsing online, email, YouTube, PDF, PowerPoint etc...

Please tell me if this is a good student laptop and why?

yes that laptop will be ok for what you need. but no that is not a good laptop for anything more than browsing and youtube etc. i advice you to buy a laptop in case you need some more power. for processor get i7 or at least i5(if you are thinking to use it for 3 years). i think you will not need a good gpu. for RAM get 8gb or 6gb for multitasking better. in the future you can add RAM. for other specs suit yourself.
