External Hard Drive?

I have a white macbook computer and i am going to purchase a program that is 60 GB. I cant imagine taking up that much space on my computer for a program, but I was thinking if i bought an external hard drive, i could install it on there. Is it possible to install something on a portable hard drive or is it just for data? thanks.

you can do it. it will just take longer to run due to the fact its being brought over an external connection. i would recommend if you can afford it to upgrade your hard drive and memory in your macbook.
