but is there anything positive that i
can get from this?

bcoz im in deep shit
can i get it fixed? or does my dad
has to buy a new 150$ hard drive..?

Answer
1. U beta hope & pray ur dad doesnt keep any important back-up data on it, if so its not some much the end of the world as u can take it to a pro (Computer store) and they can do a data recovery for you.

2. When you say the green light comes on for 5 seconds then goes off?, Is the computer on when you do this or is it off?, usually the device isnt going to run unless you turn the pc on, turn on the pc and try access the hard drive, there might be nothing wrong with it (Might = 50/50% chance).

3. The buzzing sound could mean the devise is try to reboot, Plug it in like it was in before, turn off all the power including the power to the pc and then turn it all on again. might fix it.

4. Physical harddisc reader inside is stuffed, Have to do some explaining, then assure him that it can be fixed at a computer specialist store, they might be able to recover ur data, but u might have to buy a new device for him...

if you have to buy a new one or he goes and buys a new one please avoid this kinda thing from happening agin by purchasing a Transcend one like this one (below), Called a "StoreJet 25M" comes in sizes 250GB to 750GB.

external hard drive noise?

Tyler D

i have a 500gb external hard drive and i have some important information on it and went to plug it in and it slid off my hand and hit the floor and now it is making a weird clicking noise can someone please help me?

Answer
External hard drives are very delicate and should be treated as such, since this is a common problem with damages to the drives. Your best bet would be to invest in another drive since yours could fail at anytime. As far as recovery goes, the best advice that I can offer is to do a file transfer from the damaged one to another drive. That is if the files are readable. And if the files cannot be transferred your other option would be to recover the data and transfer soon after. I googled & came across many data recovery programs, most of which hook you, meaning they offer free download & scan but charge for additional services. The one I did my search on was freeware, but again I didn't go any further than the download link since I am unsure whether or not there will be a charge. I absolutely refuse to pay for anything nowadays. But give it a try, should that be the case and move on to another link or data recovery program if your current one charges for services. Sorry about your troubles. Best of luck to you friend!
