Toshiba 80 GB Portable Hard Drive Issue: Unallocated?
I was downloading a video to my portable hard drive when all of a sudden my computer froze, i waited a lil bit for it to response, but it didn't so i shut my computer off. When I turn on my computer my hard drive was not working, I went to Disk Management and my hard drive was UNALLOCATED, I then tryed to to initialized it, but it gave me an error # 45D@0200001A. I couldn't find anything on the internet that was help full, i downloaded Acronics, and a couple other soft wares that were supposed to help me with this, but they didn't. I have over 50GB of files ,pics, movie, and music. Is there any way I can get my files back, or if I can't get em back how can i get my hard drive to work again.

I KNOW I CAN'T GET MY FILES BACK WITH OUT SPENDING ALLOT OF MONEY ON SOFTWARE. IS THERE A WAY TO MAKE MY HARD DRIVE WORK AGAIN EVEN IF I DONT GET MY FILES BACK?

Answer
Unallocated HD space, it means your HD is no longer formated as to why or how this happened I don't know.

What you can do is run a windows install disk to format your HD to NTFS(the format that windows runs on)

as for your files sorry but they are gone bud unless your willing to take it to a lab for file recovery (big bucks)

Trying to get portable Hard Drive to work with USB car deck?

daonewithn

ok so i have a sony xplod CDX-GT540UI car deck with USB plug in, and i have A LOT of music (about 50Gbs) that i want to have in my car, i got a seagate 250GB portable hard drive that i formatted to FAT32 with Partition Magic and uploaded all my music to it and when i plug it in it works nicely --- BUT --- and heres the problem, it doesnt show all the music thats on it, i read on the instructions for the deck that it can have a total of 128 folders and 500 songs per folder. i have my music organized in folders per artist and i have 171 folders in total, theres no way that i could condense it any more without like putting 2 artists in the same folder which is out of the question because then it'll be impossible to find things.

i read on a forum that someone had partitioned their harddrive into 4 different primary partitions and had his artist folders spread over the 4 partitions, i tried splitting my HD to 2 partitions and split the music in half over each partition but when i plug in the HD to the car deck it says "NO MUSIC" I assume because its trying to show as 2 different drives as it would on a computer and it doesnt know what to do

so does anyone know of a way to have all my music show despite the limitation of only the 128 folder cap?

Answer
Maybe just make an "A" "B" "C" folder. Or get an ipod/ipod deck.
