What is the best recommended portable external hard drive on the market?

I'd done some looking around on Newegg, Bestbuy, and Amazon for prices on portable external hard drives. The prices look affordable, but the customer reviews put me on edge. Some had said the hard drives (specifically the Seagate Ultra Portable 1 terabyte drive) caused their computer to crash with Windows 7. Others found the (Seagate) drives were poorly constructed and were useless in three months. What are some great drives for the prices these days?

I'm looking for a portable external hard drive for storing pictures and movies. I was looking at the Western Digital Passport Essential 500GB. I've read some reviews that some hard drives are not good for storing movies. Is this a good choice? If not what is?

well some one i know has been using a western digital external hard disk drive for quite some time and he has had no problems with it...
i have also used that external hard disk and the movies stored on it and the songs work just as the same as the internal hard disk...
just be sure to look for the rpm ie rotations per second of the disk so that a higher rpm disk is much better

Q. ok so i want a portable one that is 60 GB or 80GB, most likely 60 GB and for a decent price
so which one is better cuz i heard very good things and very good reviews from both brands, so i'm not so sure which is the best out of the two. Plus where can i get one (store or online) for a good price?
