As in putting the data on the hard drive and than accessing it on my MBA. What wires would I need?

Answer
Very easy. Connect the drive to a usb port on your computer and copy paste all your important files from your computer to the external hard drive. If I go in more detail then you will have to open or explore your external hard drive and once the target window is open, go to your files or folder on the source drive and copy all your content by selecting it. Then go to your target drive and paste it. These are really basic instructions. You can google step by step instructions for more help.
Thanks.

How do you get a new Boot Drive, but completely identical, in a Mac Pro?

I'm interested in getting a faster and bigger HDD in my Mac Pro. The only problem holding me back is that I don't have a clue how to make it exactly identical to the original HDD. Are there any suggestions on what I should do?

Answer
You can get a drive duplicator e.g. from StarTech. This will create a block level duplicate. The larger partition will not appear at first, the unused section will need to have the partition extended into it using Disk Utility or a 3rd Party tool.
You can also use a second mac to create a DMG of your drive by putting your MacPro into Target Disk mode, then replace the hardware and reverse the procedure to recover the disk image onto the new drive.
Another way to do it is to put the new drive in, put the old disk into an external drive caddy to turn it into a portable hard drive, reinstall the operating system on the new, blank disk, then trigger the Migration Assistant to copy the important stuff from your old drive which now appears as an external hard disk. This is probably the way I would do it.
