What is the fastest portable hard drive for mac?

I Need a new hard drive, and I want to get a portable one. I am looking at the Seagate FreeAgent go mac and the Iomega eGo for Mac. I am willing looking to spend in the $75 - $150 range, for preferably a 500 GB hard drive. Can you let me know? Thanks.

The brand doesn't really matter. 7200rpm is faster than 5400rpm and solid state drives are even faster. But solid state drives are too expensive and don't come with that much space. Best thing for you would probably be a 500GB @ 7200rpm. Brand doesn't really matter. All brands are pretty much the same quality.

i want to back up or copy files from my mac and take them to the office and work on them using a pc. I have a portable hard drive but as its formatted for mac, the pc does not see it. I want to buy another port hd - what type do I buy - help very much appreciated.

Western digital is a very good hard drive brand for externals.

If i were you, i would format the hard drive for the pc. Mac recognizes both mac and pc so you should be fine. if it is formatted as a mac, you won't be able to see it.
