Portable hard drive after connect to mac cannot read on windows?

why cant it show the drive after i connected my portable hard drive with mac. it can only be read from mac but not from a windows computer. why is this?

my portable hard drive is a HITACHI one that say serial-ata bridge

most likely because of the format of the drive. try backing up all the data on the drive then reformatting it as FAT32 (a format both macs and windows can handle)
