Can I install a pc game onto a portable hard drive?

i have anew laptop and i bought a 500gb portable hard drive so i could put stuff on there to keep my laptop fast. but i want to buy gta ivob pc, but i hear you need to install it (something like 19.gb) can this be installed onto the portable hard drive to keep my laptop fast or does it have to be installed onto my laptop directly?

Yeah, sure. If your portable drive is SSD, it can even improve load times. If it's not, it's probably gonna be a bit slower.

I need to install vmware fusion to run windows 7...if their is any other way let me know...run windows 7 virtual machine from portable hard drive 500gb on a mac....

You can't install VMWare fusion to a portable hard drive, but you can make a virtual machine on the hard drive. Install VMWare fusion normally. Then, when you go to make the new virtual machine, make the virtual hard drive somewhere on the external.
