Yes, that drive will work with an Acer aspire One (fellow owner of one).
Although I HIGHLY recommend getting an external dribve that has it's own power cable because the Aspire One isn't designed to have continuous running power draw while it's running it's own hardware too.
Your pricing there is a bit high too, especially for a 500Gb drive. You should be able to find even the same model for about $35 - $40 less.
I'd personally go to www.geeks.com and browse their hard drives page, which also has cables with power supplies, hard drives of 1Tb for about $60.00, and external cases for under $10.00.
Their easier to assemble and build than You think, and if You only plan to use the external at home/school/work, You can score a FANTASTIC combo deal building it Yourself with it's own power supply.

Im looking for something with as much memory i can get for under $100. if it makes a difference, i will be using it on a mac. i would prefer to stay at about $60 dollars. i need something with 150+ memory. any links? suggestions?

I have an awesome external hard drive. http://www.frys.com/product/6311311 It is just 9 bucks above your budget but i think it is worth it. This external hard drive hold all my things safe. I had another external hard drive but that one broke and it was a different brand. This one is pretty good. It is 2 TB which is 2000 gigabytes if you dont already know. Fries electronics is an awesome place too. It isnt cheap or expensive its just right! I hope igave you something good. Thank you for answering my ipod question! Before i restore my ipod im going to save my music with ifunbox. Hope this helps and thanks for helping me! :DDD
