I have a 13" MacBook Pro that I bought in December of 2012. I need a new hard drive, will this one work? Is it a good hard drive?

If it is 2.5-inch form factor and 9.5mm thick, it will work.
Let me take a look.... No, that's 3.5", for iMac / Mac Pro. Notice the box has "Desktop" printed on it.

This is the largest capacity currently made for notebooks. You may find some 1.5TB that is 2.5" form factor, but it will be more than 9.5mm thick. That is only useful in some external cases.

Any external USB hard drive formatted for Mac (HTFS+) will work.

Best hard drive brands are Seagate and Samsung Spinpoint
