What is a good external hard drive to buy?

I have a Mac laptop and obviously I want something that will be compatible with a Mac. I want one that will hold a lot of space, for like pictures and videos. Know of a good one to get? I've been looking a little and there are just so many to choose from I'm not sure what to get. Thanks!

I currently am using a Western Digital 1tb My Book for as my Time Machine device. It took only a few minutes to set it up and get it running.

I have had ZERO problems with it. I used to have this same device hooked up to my old Dell laptop as additional storage, and it worked beautifully.

They range in capacity from 1tb to 3tb, PLENTY of space. They are also compatible with USB 2.0 and 3.0.

You can get the 1tb model for about $140. The 3tb model is around $200.

I have a 3TB mybook western digital external hard drive and my Mac can't see it. At all. Its normally formatted for windows and I have a plug in downloaded to my mac where I can read and write on it (I dont remember the name of it). It was working fine and one day just decided not to. It wasn't dropped and no water damage. Any ideas?

if formatted under windows format it won't see it. partition it and reformat each partition with basic windows format
