I need some ginormous storage for my backup for my 80GB laptop (pavilion zv6000). I also need a backup as well. What works best? Thanks for your advice.

Well LaCie is a great on but in term of price, try the Western Digital Passport 120GB (external portable-no power required) for about 70USD at zipzoomfly.com.
I am using a WD external hard drive and it works just great.

I got a new toshiba laptop with 80GB hard drive and my last laptop has 120 GB . i want to know if i can install my old one and if so how can i do that? how can i check if its compatible with my new laptop.

my new laptopn is a toshiba M115-S3094.

I do not think you can install both drives internally.

the easiest and cheapest thing to do would be to install
your old 120gb drive into an EXTERNAL USB case.

That is a small aluminum "box" about the size of a cigarette pack,but thinner.
Very easy to install the Drive into it.
And there is a USB cable coming from it,that you simply plug into your laptop's USB port.

The laptop then has "Dual Hard Drives".

There is also a way to make USB hard-drives Bootable.
Which means you can keep your OLD laptop with "NO harddrive" installed in it,,,,
but plug in the USB External Drive and it will work normally,,boot-up and run as it always did.

You also can use an external USB Drive in ANY PC's USB port,and it will appear as that PC's 2nd drive

The USB external cases range from about $10~20 USD,,on up.
I do not think there's much real difference in quality/features among the many choices.

You MUST determine what type of Drive you have,,IDE or SATA,,and get an appropriate case.
I assume your OLD laptop has an IDE drive.

(Your New Toshiba has a SATA drive)

Look on EBAY,,and search for "EXTERNAL CASE"
You need 2.5" model for a laptop drive.
3.5inch is for Desktop Drives.

and small enough to be reasonably convenient to
