how come i connect my portable hard drive in the PS3 but i doesnt not appear?

Answer
In order for a PS3 to read portable memory (External HDD, Thumbdrive, ETC.) the device must be formatted into the FAT32 format.

To do this, you can insert your portable to device into a Windows PC, open My Computer, and right click the drive. (ex: E:/ F:/ G:/), then select "Format".

Select FAT32 as the format and click "Start".

WARNING: All data on the portable device will be deleted, so make sure to back it up to the PC if you want to keep it, then place it on AFTER the format.

After this, the PS3 will easily read the inserted portable media.
