Movies played through my External Hard Drive?

Mike Day

I have been playing movies, which I got off of torrents, and I notice that the sound is off sometimes. Furthermore, the movies which I like, I move to my external Hard Drive, which is connected by USB, after viewing them on my internal. Would the slower speed of the USB versus SATA be the reason for this delay, or is it perhaps the actual movie itself.
Thanks in advance,
Graham.

***Also, any torrent movie downloaders out there, have you ever experienced this problem with sound being off? Thanks again.***

Answer
No, the hdd has nothing to do with it. I play movies off of a portable hdd and they play fine.

Macbook pro 13 W/ Flatscreen versus Macbook pro 17?

Antonio G

Hey I am a web designer who travels to client locations to work with them on their sites. I am considering buying a Macbook Pro 13 inch (with 320 GB hard drive and 2.53 Ghz processor) and a 24 inch flat screen, or a 17inch Macbook Pro (500 gig hard drive and 2.8 Ghz processor). The first option is cheaper and more portable, but the second one offers bigger speed and faster processor. Any thoughts?

Answer
You've pretty much summed it all up yourself. Here's one thought for you though:
Although the 13" is more portable, the fact it has a smaller hard-drive means it will run out of space faster than the other model. You'll then need to buy an external drive for that one sooner - that detracts from the two benefits of getting it; it wont be as portable because of the external HD and it will cost more for the external.
