I was wondering if I should spend the extra $11 to get a two year warranty. This would be for a MacBook Pro 13in, where I've used the 40GB.

1) price of product
2) price of warranty
3) time of warranty
4) coverage of warranty
5) Reputation of specific product (NOT brand)
Summary: if the price for a long warranty is cheap compared to the price of the product it might be worth it. It IS worth it if the warranty actually covers stuff that will happen (drops, power surges, protection of data, non-corruption.)
If the above isn't true, look at the experiences with that specific model of hard drive (forget the brand; look at THAT product), and them make your decision. If that product has problems, it's better to get another.than to get the warranty.
But plan that you'll be replacing that hard drive no matter what in 3 -5 years. It might be cheaper just to save the money for the warranty over 3-5 years, and use it to buy a replacement.
