Q. .....but the hard drive isnt showing up in my windows VISTA computer....how do it do it. one guy said to reformat it to fat32...but how?

you could reformat it... but i think the problem is that you dont have the right drivers for it... google the exact make and model and you should find vista drivers for the hard drive.


if that does not work you can use an xp computer to format the drive.... plug it in.... go to my computer, right click the drive and select format.

i have so many pictures, videos & songs. i'm planning to buy portable hard drive because i don't have any space in my laptop, i'd like to put my files (especially pictures) in a safe place with a password. but i don't know whether to buy my passport or buffalo (or any brand you know that is much better in terms in using and price). honestly speaking i don't have any idea about hard drives. i just saw someone using at an internet shop, and i went to computer shop, but i don't know what to choose. please help me. thanks in advance.

passport works well for me. Important pictures should be backed up on a CD/DVD and placed in a case. Hard drives will eventually fail and so do CDs/DVDs.
And there are archival grade DVDs like this one.
