whats a good brand for an external hard drive 500 gig
dont want one that takes to long to transfer flies
dont want one that says 500 but is like 450. which ever has the closest to 500 is good enough for me. thanks!

All hard drives are a bit less than they say, eg: a 500GB will be 480GB.
Here are some really good suggestions:
-WESTERN DIGITAL WDBABS6400ABK MY PASSPORT AV 640GB
Its 640GB but it will be 610GB so it is close to 500GB and a bit more :)
-WESTERN DIGITAL WDBACY5000ABK MY PASSPORT ESSENTIAL 500GB
500GB but will be 480GB. This HDD has USB3.0 connection for super fast data transfer.
-WESTERN DIGITAL WDBACX7500ABK MY PASSPORT ESSENTIAL SE 750GB
750GB but will be 730GB. Also with USB3.0
Note: 480Mbit/s (USB 2.0) and 5Gbit/sec (USB 3.0)

I'd like to buy an external hard drive. I'm being lazy, so I'm asking all of you if you've found any good deals or know about the best kind to buy for the least amount of money. Any suggestions and/or advice about this is welcome.

External hard drives tend to be quite expensive. The cheap way of getting an external hard drive is making your own. What I did was bought an enclosure for about 12 bucks and internal hard drive 500 GB for 54 bucks brand new too. An enclosure is a case where you take an internal hard drive that would normally go inside your computer, and turn it into an external hard drive. It's cheaper this way. I got my products on Ebay. 500 GB external drive cost about 90 bucks while I made mines for less than 70 dollars and the same size. Once you put it together you can plug it in the USB port on your computer and its ready to use.
