on all Xboxs usb flashdrives that have atleast 1gb of memory can be used as a hard drive along with external harddrives for computers, sometimes if the drive has a large amount of memory the xbox will only access a portin of it, for instance i use a 320gb external hard drive but the xbox will only use 16gb of it

Hey ppl.. I'm a pro photographer/videographer and my laptop I use currently has used all its C Drive space, well I was looking at prices for an external/portable hard drive.. I found 500gb for $60 at walmart.. so I figured I'd transfer the things from my laptop to the external drive, however I am very paranoid because I do not want to lose my work, and just the thought of it being off my original laptop makes me nervous.. so say I transfer it to my external drive.. and then say I want to put it back on my original laptop, how do I do this? How do I make sure everything will be on the external drive?
Ok... and say I transfer everything from my laptop to the hard drive, and the USB stick is still plugged in... but then I delete the original images off my computer, how does that work? Is it still on my computer, just on the USB port?
I'm confused, tell me how it works, I got 4,000 images and 60 Hi Def videos I don't want to lose

Select what you want to transfer to the external device.
Right click on it and select copy.
View the external drive in My Computer.
Paste what you have copied into a directory on the external drive.
If you delete it from the original location, it will stay on the external drive. This is not an automated backup process which examines what is in each location and synchronizes the contents of both. This is simply a copy you created.
Once you copy something from your C drive and paste it onto the external device, and you delete it from the C drive, it will be there on the external device regardless of what computer you plug that external device into. Thus, you can take that external device with you to a friend's house, plug it into their computer, and access your pictures from there.
